This year, Spain will host the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville. The FfD conferences are the only space where leaders from all governments, along with international and regional organizations, financial and trade institutions, businesses, civil society and the UN System unite at the highest levels to renew the global financing framework. The last conference (FfD3) was held in 2015 and resulted in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda.
While there are many critical issues on the table, domestic resource mobilisation remains the primary and most sustainable source of financing for development. As such, FfD4 represents a tremendous opportunity to renew ambition and define the agenda on raising tax revenues in a way that is equitable, efficient, and sustainable. The ICTD is engaging with key stakeholders, aiming to inform the process and outcome with insights and policy recommendations from our body of research. Follow our inputs here.
