We are delighted to welcome Ruvimbo Chidziva and Soukayna Remmal, who joined our team earlier this month as Research Interns based at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto (UofT).

Ruvimbo Chidziva

Ruvimbo is currently pursuing her Master of Global Affairs at the Munk School. She has a BA in International Relations from the University of Nottingham and previously worked for Christian Blind Mission (CBM) in Zimbabwe, where she managed projects focused on disability and development for three years. Ruvimbo is keen to research alternatives to foreign aid for sub-Saharan Africa’s development. She will be working with ICTD Research Fellows Vanessa van den Boogaard and Max Gallien on our new Tax and Civil Society programme.

Soukayna Remmal

Soukayna will be graduating next month from a dual master’s degree in Public Policy and Global Affairs at Sciences Po and the Munk School. She has a BA in International Relations and a minor in African Studies from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. She has interned at The Policy Centre for the New South in Rabat, the Embassy of Morocco to the European Union in Brussels, and Action Against Hunger Canada. Soukayna has previously researched the asymmetric interdependency between Morocco and the European Union, using migration management as a case study, and is currently researching sustainable urbanisation policies for African cities as a graduate research fellow at the School of Cities (UofT). During her time with the ICTD, she will be working on a research project about the Zakat, on our new DIGITAX programme, and assisting with our communications in French.
