As a partner in developing the African Tax Research Network (ATRN), the ICTD sponsored its third congress along with the GIZ, BMZ, and EU “Good Financial Governance in Africa” programme. The congress took place in Antananarivo from September 4-7th, and was organised by the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) in partnership with la Direction Générale des Impôts of Madagascar. The event programme can be found here.

As well as being a conference sponsor, the ICTD contributed through the involvement of our team (pictured below: Senior Fellow Sol Picciotto, researchers Alexander Ezenagu and Catherine Mutava, and Research Uptake Manager Rhiannon McCluskey), who reviewed papers, chaired panels, and acted as paper discussants.

Many of those who participated in the joint ICTD and ATAF research methods course in Luanda in May presented their papers at the ATRN congress.

The ATRN is a great platform for developing and sharing research on taxation across the African continent, and the ICTD is glad to be a supporting partner.
